Spodumene

Spodumene is a lithium bearing mineral similar to Feldspar. It is composed of silica, alumina, and lithia. Aside from Petalite, it is the only widely available lithium source that is not soluble in water (a little more than 1g of Lithium Carbonate dissolves in 100g of water).

According to the article The Lure of Lithium by Dave Finkleberg (Ceramics Monthly, September 2011), neither spodumene nor petalite melts at cone 10 temperatures.
