Bizen Ware
Bizen ware (bizen yaki), one of the Six Ancient Kiln Sites of Japan, is pottery made in Bizen (in modern day Okayama).
- Bizen ware
- is unglazed, vitrified, high temp (~1300 C) stoneware
- is unique for its Hidasuki, streaks of bright red and orange
- forms natural ash glaze from exposure to the wood ash
